Hi Captain,

we use your workspace management. Now we try to find a way to get the current size of a workpage within the current workspace layout.

Is there any convenient function to retrieve the current size?

We want to have a little help image displayed on the right side of the screen and we want to resize this image to fit to the current size of the help workspace element.

Hi Tobias,

hmmm, we can easily offer something where the current size of a pane is transferred to the server with every requets.

THe problem will be the first page... the first page is XML-rendered on server side and the pixel-rendered on client side. During the XML-rendering there is no knowledge about the actual size on client side.

So, if the start up phase is not too much a problem, then the creation of a size-transfer-component is no problem at all.

...OK?

Don't you initially define the size of the panes in the xml, so the size is already known?

I guess it depends on the starting screen resolution of the client (startup parameter).

Currently I think we can live without the initial sizing.

Thanks.

Hi Tobias,

...I do not like the word "currently" so much! ;-)
Typically at start-up there is a lot of percentage sizing, so things heavily depend on screen size, workplace arrangement, etc. etc.

We will provide such a component short term.

You never know what your product owner or customer wants later on... ;-)

But thanks for adding it short-term.
